My reference to Gustave Flaubert was about his short story, "Un Coeur Simple" (A Simple Heart). Like you, he really labored at it, 2 pages a week. To make sure his prose was rhythmic, he shouted out every word of Madame Bovary in a grove

Without the "you" in the film, it would be just a generic adventure. Putting in the "insignificant" moments seems like it would be a narrow, too personal film. But your human moments make it universal. I could relate to them. The Seinfeld show was about "nothing", but was a big hit. More than a century earlier, Flaubert wrote about an "insignificant" life. Nothing was more moving.

My husband and I watched up syndrome this evening and really loved it! We have a 24 yr. old son with down syndrome, and I also teach special needs children, and so have a lot of experience with people who have downs. We loved Rene!! He reminded me of some of my current and former students - it was great when he drove - I know my son would love to do that too, but I'm not brave enough to do that. Thank you for making such a sweet movie about a sweet person. We are interested in purchasing a DVD of the movie, if that is a possibility - we want to show it to our other children - they would really enjoy it also. Please let me know if, and how we would be able to do so. Thank you very much. Kim

Speaking of B-Side, they will also be doing the back-end programming for the Clearwater Film Festival, which will debut Sept 29 - Oct 23, 2010 in Clearwater, Florida. The festival was founded by former Austin-resident Mike Rembis, who used to run the Austin Film Meet. Austin-based media company Humblebee Media will be doing marketing for the Clearwater Film Festival.
