A recipient of a 2009 TFPF grant, the short documentary MANOS DE MADRE will screen for free at the Mexican American Cultural Center on Tuesday, November 17th at 7:30pm. The film “follows a single mother of five, as she navigates life within the Guatemala City garbage dump – her home, and the largest dump in Central America.”
The film was made by Greg Kwedar and his gang at One Spark Films, which recently won a $15,000 prize with the Doorpost Film Project for their narrative short film GUEST ROOM. Congrats, guys!
The screening is presented by the non-profit groups Safe Passage and Waking the World. Food and drinks will be provided. To attend, please RSVP to wakingtheworld@gmail.com.
