St. Nick at Thessaloniki

David Lowery’s acclaimed feature ST. NICK will make its international premiere at the 50th Thessaloniki Film Festival later on this week, as the only American film in the main competition, no less. The film received a 2007 TFPF grant for production and participated in AFS’s Narratives-in-Progress program last year. It premiered at SXSW earlier in 2009 and has been rolling on the festival circuit since. st-nick-3

David’s film will be joined by a couple other flicks with AFS-y connections - the “Young Americans” sidebar will feature Andrew Bujalski’s Austin-shot BEESWAX (AFS co-sponsored a screening last month) and So Yong Kim’s TREELESS MOUNTAIN (So was one of our three TFPF panelists this year).

From all I’ve heard, it’s an incredible festival and they’re sure to pull out all the stops for their 50th anniversary.
