61 Bullets at IFP’s Project Forum

New York’s IFP recently announced the 116 titles that will participate in the Project Forum section of Independent Film Week, the 31st annual iteration of what used to be known as the IFP Market.

David Modigliani’s new documentary 61 BULLETS, which was one of the 25 projects selected for a TFPF grant just this week, will participate in the “Spotlight on Documentaries” section of the Project Forum, which is designed for “for filmmakers in production, post, or with a completed film seeking financing partners, broadcast/distribution, and festival invitations.” Modigliani’s still-in-progress documentary follows 74-year-old Dr. Carl Weiss Jr.’s mission to exonerate his father Carl Weiss, who since 1935 has been believed responsible for the assassination of fiery Louisiana Senator Huey P. Long.

Other AFS-connected projects include 2009 TFPF panelist (and new Austinite) Todd Rohal’s new feature SCOUTMASTERS, participating in the No Borders International Co-Production Market. Anish Savjani, producer of Austin-shot projects like Spencer Parsons’ I’LL COME RUNNING and Geoff Marslett’s MARS (both TFPF recipients), is producing James Ponsoldt’s REFRESH, REFRESH, also part of No Borders. And, UT professor Andrew Shea’s documentary PORTRAIT OF WALLY, produced by Austin Film Festival head Barbara Morgan, is in the Spotlight on Documentaries section.

Congrats to all the participants and best of luck on finding some dollars, distribution or festival invites up in there!
