Romanian filmmaker Sergiu Lupse has begun his artist-in-residency at AFS, a five week immersion into AFS programming concluding the third week of November. He has the opportunity to participate in programs to share his work, receive and offer feedback to local filmmakers, teach guest workshops, attend various film series, write for the film journal, Persistence of Vision, and forge relationships with local filmmakers to develop and work on film projects while here in Austin.
This residency is made possible in collaboration with the prestigious CEC ArtsLink program, which enables U.S. artists and arts organizations to work collaboratively with counterparts in Central Europe, Russia and Eurasia on projects that benefit artists and audiences in both regions.
Lupseās degree is in Film and Photography, and he holds a Masters degree in Experimental Film. His portfolio includes TV commercials, 10 short films, many of which have screened at festivals in Europe and US and a product catalog for Vichy. In his films, he uses visual stimuli in the form of colors or sound and music to pinpoint or accelerate emotions and feelings that the character might be experiencing.
He will be screening his films during the Avant Cinema 2.2: Experimental Films from Romania, on Wednesday, October 29th.
